Unitas Warm Hub wins project of the year!

We’re absolutely delighted to share that on 29th January, Unitas’ “Forever Young” Warm Hub won Project of the Year at The Barnet Group Community Awards. This award is a huge recognition of the incredible impact the Warm Hub has had on local older residents over the past two years, and we couldn’t be prouder!

A special shout out goes to Pat Furniss and her team, who set up the Warm Hub and has driven this fantastic initiative from day one. Pat’s dedication, energy and care have been at the heart of its success.

We also want to thank everyone who has supported the Warm Hub – from staff and volunteers, to partners and community members who help make each week feel welcoming, safe and joyful.

Unitas have been running our “Forever Young” Wednesday Warm Hub for almost two years, providing a safe, warm and welcoming space for older residents every Wednesday from 9.30am–2.30pm. The Warm Hub regularly attracts around 150 attendees, who take part in a wide range of activities including pool, chair yoga, flower arranging, learning musical instruments, karaoke and singing, bingo, games and many more weekly activities.

Every week also includes delicious hot soup and bread, and the whole thing is completely FREE.

At a time when loneliness, isolation and social anxiety are growing challenges for many older people, the Warm Hub truly embodies community spirit. It’s a place where people come together, feel seen, and leave with full hearts (and usually full stomachs too!).
