Full-time roles at Unitas Youth Zone are either permanent or fixed term contracts of 40 hours per week and are salaried. Part-time roles are for fewer hours per week and are also salaried. Sessional roles are paid by the hour according to which shifts are worked. For youth work sessional roles, these are mostly in the evenings and at the weekends.
Job Title: Female Engagement Coordinator - Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be female, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
Hours: 20 hours per week (including evenings and weekends) -0.5 FTE
Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 pro rata dependent on experience (fixed term contract)

Unitas is committed to providing a safe and inspiring place for all young people. The role of Female Engagement Coordinator is pivotal in planning and delivering initiatives aimed at increasing female participation in Unitas’s senior sessions for 13-19-year-olds (up to 25 for those with additional needs).
Unitas’s goal is to shift the current male/female ratio from 80%/20% to 65%/35% by March 2025, ultimately aiming for a balanced 50%/50%. You will be responsible for creating innovative programs that attract new female members and enhance the engagement of current members. This role includes outreach work, organising female-only activities, and occasionally leading sessions, including a dedicated female-only session on Sunday afternoons.
This position is a fantastic opportunity to be at the forefront of change, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for young women.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced youth worker with a proven track record in engaging young women and girls. You should have strong project management skills, be adept at duty management, and be capable of supporting young people who may face social or emotional barriers.
Direct experience in working with children and young people aged 8 years and above, both in groups and individually.

You will also collaborate with other youth workers from the Art Department on cross-departmental projects, such as creating a talent show with the music department. You will also support and inspire our young people with any promotional activities and visits that take place at the Youth Zone.

Are you passionate about using climbing as a tool to help young people develop confidence, learn new skills and overcome challenges? Sport and Fitness, alongside the Arts and Youth Work, are at the heart of Unitas’s programme for young people. The sports and outdoor programme at Unitas are wide-ranging and as a member of the Sports team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme of adventurous activities that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single sport, or range of sports activities to young people, as well as facilitating taster sessions, competitions and challenges which build young people’s engagement, skills, and fitness levels. You will coach and develop teams and support volunteer sports coaches.

The boxing and mixed martial arts offer at Unitas is wide ranging and as a member of the Sports team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme of multi-disciplinary activities that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will ensure the boxing suite and martial arts area is well used and maintained to a high standard, offering young people a safe, exciting, and challenging arena in a friendly and welcoming environment. You will provide supervision and advice to young people and support and guide members of Unitas Youth Zone’s staff and volunteers.
