Full-time roles at Unitas Youth Zone are either permanent or fixed term contracts of 40 hours per week and are salaried. Part-time roles are for fewer hours per week and are also salaried. Sessional roles are paid by the hour according to which shifts are worked. For youth work sessional roles, these are mostly in the evenings and at the weekends.

Schools and Holiday Club Coordinator

Job Title: Schools and Holiday Club Coordinator

Hours: 40 hours per week including evenings and weekends (flexibility required)

Salary: £29,500- £31,500

Location: Unitas Youth Zone, 76 Montrose Avenue, HA8 0DT

As Schools and Holiday Club Coordinator you will lead two Unitas’s most important and growing initiatives: the local schools programme and Holiday Club provision. You will drive the engagement of young people by developing strong partnerships with local schools and delivering vibrant holiday activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with schools, teachers, and education bodies.
  • Designing and delivering engaging educational programmes aligned with school priorities.
  • Planning, promoting, and delivering high-quality Holiday Club activities during school holidays.
  • Managing programme budgets and ensuring cost-effective delivery.
  • Applying for and managing Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) grants and other relevant funding.
  • Capturing and evaluating outcomes, feedback, and data to inform improvements.
  • Line managing, motivating, and supporting a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Ensuring activities meet the needs of all young people, including those with SEND.

 About you:

You will be a passionate and committed youth work professional who brings creativity, energy, and focus to everything you do. You will have:

  • Experience delivering face-to-face youth or schools-based activities for young people aged 8+.
  • A proven ability to build strong relationships with schools and external partners.
  • Skills in managing and motivating staff and volunteers to deliver excellent programmes.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and promoting equality and diversity.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, positive attitude with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school holidays.
  • A commitment to empowering young people and raising their aspirations.

Holiday Club Youth Worker

Job Title: Holiday Club Youth Worker

Hours: Various shifts Mon-Fri Between 7:45am & 6pm

Salary: £13.85 per hour

Location: Unitas Youth Zone, 76 Montrose Avenue, HA8 0DT

We are looking for a Holiday Club Youth Worker to join in the school holidays for 4 weeks with the team at Unitas.

If you love working with young people and engaging them in a range of activities, alongside facilitating conversations with young people to explore their views and express their opinions, then we want to hear from you!

Hours:  Various shifts Mon-Fri Between 7:45am and 6pm

About the Role

Unitas exists to give young people, particularly those who are disadvantaged, somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

We have a state-of-the-art £6.5 million building provides young people with access to a range of activities, all offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain new experiences.

You will be involved in session delivery, planning, preparation, and work with young people closely.

About You

You will be someone with a clear ‘can do’ approach, committed to a growth mindset, eager to learn and willing to take risks all for the benefit of supporting young people.

You will have experience of:

  • Face to face activity delivery, working with young people both in groups and individually
  • Delivering a range of informal, creative activities to young people
  • Supporting young people who are disaffected, underachieving and / or have social / emotional barriers to participation
  • Working in a team and alongside volunteers
  • Organising a programme of youth work activities
  • Working with challenging young people
  • Residential work with young people

Job Title: Sessional Youth Worker- Performing Arts

Do you have a passion for arts and creativity? Are you ready to take on a rewarding role in an amazing charity where you will make a real difference to the lives of young people? If yes, then we want to hear from you! You will have the opportunity to utilise your skills to have a positive impact on the lives of young people, working in our Performing Arts Studio! This role is for our Wednesday Junior session 15:45pm – 20:15pm every week.

You will also collaborate with other youth workers from the Art Department on cross-departmental projects, such as creating a talent show with the music department. You will also support and inspire our young people with any promotional activities and visits that take place at the Youth Zone.

Sport and Fitness, alongside the Arts and Youth Work, are at the heart of Unitas’s programme for young people.  The sports and outdoor programme at Unitas are wide-ranging and as a member of the Sports team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme of adventurous activities that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of a single sport, or range of sports activities to young people, as well as facilitating taster sessions, competitions and challenges which build young people’s engagement, skills, and fitness levels. The boxing and mixed martial arts offer at Unitas is wide ranging and as a member of the Sports team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging programme of multi-disciplinary activities that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental.  You will ensure the boxing suite and martial arts area is well used and maintained to a high standard, offering young people a safe, exciting, and challenging arena in a friendly and welcoming environment. You will provide supervision and advice to young people and support and guide members of Unitas Youth Zone’s staff and volunteers.
